When replacing a diff, we never rely solely on the tag or what it’s labelled as — and here’s why:
🔍 Tags can be wrong. Over time, parts get swapped, tags go missing, or the wrong info gets stamped.
🔍 Labels fade or get reused. Especially in older trucks or second-hand parts.
🔍 Mismatched ratios = major driveline issues. If the ratios don’t match across your diffs, you’re asking for serious damage — fast.
That’s why, at Webbie’s Mechanical, we always manually check the diff ratio on both the old and new units before installing. It’s one of those extra steps that keeps you out of trouble and your truck running smooth.
