It was supposed to be a straightforward job. The green Volvo was due to collect a load, but the driver noticed the temperature gauge climbing fast. Before long, the truck was overheating — badly.
They brought it straight to Webbie’s Mechanical, steam pouring from under the cab.
At first glance, it looked like a cooling system fault. But once our team got into it, we found something more serious: the air compressor was pressurising the coolant system, and it had built up so much force that it actually split the radiator open.
That wasn’t the only issue.
Behind the radiator sat a cracked intercooler, and while we were there, we spotted a worn fan hub that wouldn’t have lasted much longer.
With Sunday night loading on the line, we got to work. New radiator, intercooler, fan hub, and air compressor installed. Pressure tested. Refilled. Rechecked.
The truck rolled out that afternoon — cool, quiet, and ready to haul.
It’s never fun when small problems turn into big ones — but with the right team on your side, even a bad day can end with a thumbs-up.
