This is an intercooler out of a Volvo FH16 we recently worked on. The truck came in for a radiator job, but once we pulled it out, we discovered something else — the intercooler was also broken, with a hole that was leaking badly.
So what happens when your intercooler leaks or fails?
⚠️ It can cause overboost, forcing the system to shut down.
⚠️ Or it can cause underboost, leaving the truck down on power.
⚠️ Either way, it means poor fuel economy, performance issues, and the very real risk of being stranded on the side of the road.
Catching it while the radiator was already out meant we could sort both issues at once and save the customer downtime.
