Her Car Confidence started with a simple frustration. Too many people drive every day without ever being shown the basics, and too many get talked over when something goes wrong with their car.
We’re Jade and Scott Webb. In 2018 we started Webbie’s Mechanical, a truck workshop in Perth. It began in a 150 square metre shed in Maddington and grew into our current workshop in Welshpool, looking after trucks for customers from Perth to Karratha, Darwin and Queensland.
We built Webbie’s around one idea: bring back the knowledgeable person at the counter who understands your vehicle and genuinely cares. The kind of place where you can ask a question and get a straight answer.
That idea is why Her Car Confidence exists.
The gap we kept seeing
Jade came into the trade from the parts counter before qualifying as a mechanic. Over the years she’s watched drivers, women especially, get handed a big repair bill and a vague explanation, with no easy way to tell whether the work was actually needed.
When money is tight, that guesswork costs people real money and a lot of stress. You end up saying yes because you don’t have the knowledge to say “hang on, is this right?”
We wanted to close that gap.
What we actually teach
Our workshops cover the basics in plain English:
- How to check your engine oil, coolant and washer fluid, and what a healthy level looks like
- How to change a tyre safely
- How to spot a worn tyre or a leak before it becomes a breakdown
- What common dashboard warning lights mean, and when one means stop driving
- How to tell a job you can do yourself from one that needs a mechanic
You get hands-on with a real car, ask any question you like, and practise until it sticks. No jargon, no lectures.
Where you end up
You leave able to look after your car between services, catch a small problem before it turns into a big one, and ask a good question when a quote doesn’t add up.
We’re proud of the trucks we fix. We’re just as proud of the drivers who walk out of a workshop knowing more than they did that morning.
If no one has ever shown you the basics, that’s what we’re here for.
