That was the issue with a recent truck that came into the workshop.
The Symptoms
- Hissing sound when braking

The driver knew something wasn’t right, but brake systems aren’t easy to fully diagnose without proper checks.
The Cause
During inspection, we found the issue:
A brake booster had blown out the side.
Normally, air pressure is directed into the booster to assist braking force.
But in this case, every time the brake pedal was pressed, air was escaping straight out of the damaged booster.
That meant:
- Loss of air pressure
- Reduced braking efficiency
- Increased safety risk
The Fix
We replaced the faulty booster and tested the braking system to ensure everything was working correctly.
