That’s exactly why we run Her Car Confidence. It’s a done-with-you workshop in a real mechanical workshop, designed to give women the confidence to feel at home around their car.
Why this matters
Confidence around your car isn’t about turning everyone into a mechanic. It’s about knowing what’s normal, what’s not, and what to do when something goes wrong on the side of the road or in the school carpark. Knowing what to ask. Knowing when you’re being shown straight. Knowing how to handle the basics yourself.
What the day looks like
You arrive in the morning and Scott and I welcome you into the workshop. Everyone gets into overalls (supplied) so your clothes stay clean and you feel the part. Then we get into it.
We bring vehicles in one by one. You get time on your own car and you get to watch and work through other cars too. We show you how to pop your bonnet, where everything lives under it, how to check your oil and coolant, how to check your lights, and we walk you through all the safety procedures of being around vehicles.

You’ll get hands-on with changing a tyre. Pumping up tyre pressure and knowing where to find the right pressure for your car. Changing a battery. Changing windscreen wipers. We break for a yummy grazing platter at lunch, then back into it.

Anyone who’s ever wanted to know what’s actually going on under the bonnet, and felt put off by the jargon. Anyone who wants to feel sure they could handle a flat tyre, a dead battery, or a noise that wasn’t there yesterday. Anyone who just wants to walk into a mechanic and ask the right questions.
